Giambattista Valli: A Black-and-White Floral Fusion

Giambattista Valli debuted an incredibly sweet collection this week in Paris, with special commitment to floral patterns and pop-outs alike for Haute Couture fall/winter 2015-16. A black and white color scheme played a major part in the line’s persistence to waltz pouffy, shaggy, and frilly layers down the runway on many of their dresses, pantsuits, and ball gowns.

Peplum tops were seen with long draped backs hanging low to the ankle, while matching pants and contrasting accessories stood big and bold. For the looks not in black or white, pastel flowers in light green, baby pink, and a vibrant yellow were seen many of the dresses.

A few of our favorites included an elongated sleeveless shirt and matching pants in emerald green that consisted of large sparkling, mesh-like cut-outs; a floor-length dress with a yellow and black checkered top and swooping baby pink bottom half; a shiny, shaggy dress of metallic-looking layers in silver; a long-sleeved black mini that shines with tiny white flowers and black frills on either side; large cloud-like gowns with organza ruffles in white and sorbet orange; and a matching top and bottom pair with bushels of flowers as the pattern, and intricate, large beads as the collar decoration.

This season’s couture is sure to bring out the very best of any black (and white) tie situation—frills or not.
