Today, Uniqlo is launching its latest collaborative collection with the New York-based designer Anna Sui. The new collection melds Sui’s romantic motifs with Uniqlo’s practical wardrobe staples—a fusion that offers sophisticated and stylish looks for women of all ages. The bohemian theme is punctuated with Sui’s signature prints, seen on t-shirts, dresses, blouses, scarves, and other accessories like headbands.
“I am so excited to be collaborating with Uniqlo. It’s my dream to combine my bohemian and feminine style with Uniqlo’s obtainable fashion, accessible pricing, and care for good quality,” Sui told us of the partnership. “Uniqlo is one of my favorite stores to shop for t-shirts and wardrobe staples. I always love their designer collaborations and always wanted to do one.”
Ahead of the release, we also heard from Sui about her eponymous label’s upcoming collection—Fall/Winter 2020, a take on the dramatic glamour of yesteryears.
“My Fall/Winter 2020 collection is all about nocturnal glam with a light gothic twist—very cinematic and seductive, washed in decadent versions of my favorite colors,” Sui explained. “This was all sparked by watching a series of ‘70s Italian horror movies, by directors like Dario Argento and Mario Bava, and the campy English Hammer horror movies from the ‘60s and ‘70s.”
On the runway, we saw Sui’s tragically beautiful details shine with accessories like long velvet glove; extraterrestrial-esque cat eye sunglasses; peacock feather-adorned headbands with veils; Victorian era-like platform shoes paired with transparent knee-high socks in the same print; and wide chockers that dangle floral charms dripping in single-line gems.
