Haute Couture SS14: Jean Paul Gaultier’s Punk Butterflies

No contributor

Jean Paul Gaultier‘s spring/summer 2014 couture collection paid homage to the vivacious butterfly through flouncy sleeves and pointy triangular shoulders. The silhouettes of some gowns also resembled the bodies and wings of the inspirational insect. Glamorous showgirl dresses were fancily clad with a draping chain of sparkly Swarovski crystals.

Gaultier has been incorporating Swarovski crystals into his designs since 1982, and the new line was no exception. Featuring 15 crystal-embellished pieces for the new season, the looks elegantly integrated the latest Swarovski innovations of crystal studs and spikes.
