Baselworld 2019: Tag Heuer, Greubel Forsey, Glashütte, and Breitling

Tomorrow, top watchmakers from all over the world are gathering in Basel, Switzerland for the 2019 edition of Baselworld. Below, we’re giving you a preview of our favorite new releases presented by Tag Heuer, Greubel Forsey, Glashütte, and Breitling.

Tag Heuer’s iconic Autavia timepiece is making a comeback, offering technological and design updates on the original model from the 1960s. Inspired by the cockpit of an aircraft and the brand’s pilots’ watches from the mid-1900s, this 42 mm watch features a navy blue ceramic face with a bidirectional rotating bezel that displays hours, minutes, seconds, and the date. The piece is equipped with a brown leather strap, which can be traded for a stainless-steel bracelet. In addition, the new Autavia watch has the new cutting-edge carbon-composite hairspring, paired with a chronometer-certified Calibre 5 movement.

Perfect for the avid traveler, Greubel Forsey’s GMT Quadruple Tourbillon watch displays three time zones and a universal time function. Its bold three-dimensional appearance also features an outsized rotating globe and a semi-skeletal peek into its inner workings. And wherever you may travel, its stainless-steel case and black alligator strap will ensure that you arrive in style.

Glashütte is presenting two new additions to its “Sixties” line—a collection of retro-inspired watches that brings the best of the 1960s to today. While the Sixties Panorama Date model offers a 42 mm case, the original Sixties style measures in at a slightly more delicate 39 mm piece. Each model features a burnt orange lacquered dial (with a low-relief pattern produced using the original methods and tools from the 1960s), a stainless-steel case, and a brown Louisiana alligator leather strap.

Breitling highlighted three new collections this year—including a tribute to the P-40 Warhawk airplane and a celebratory collection for Bentley’s centenary anniversary—but our favorite would have to be the new addition to the “Navitimer 1 Airline Editions” collection. Designed for the iconic Pan American World Airways (which remained a dominating force in aviation years after the airline discontinued flying), the Navitimer 1 B01 Chronograph 43 Pan Am Edition features a red, white, and blue “Pan Am” theme, which complements its stainless-steel case and classic design. The timepiece also comes with the option of a brown leather strap, Breitling Air Racer bracelet, or a stainless-steel mesh bracelet.
