Baselworld 2019: Zenith and Hublot

No contributor

To conclude our coverage of the watches presented during Baselworld 2019, we’re sharing the new releases from Zenith and Hublot.

Zenith introduced its first silver-cased watch with an addition to the brand’s iconic Pilot collection—the Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Silver. Limited to 250 pieces, the 45mm watch features an Elite 679 automatic movement, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, and SuperLuminova time markers for optimum visibility. On the watch’s dial, a brushed silver background is reminiscent of the metal sheets used to build an airplane, and on the back of the case, an inscription depicts the Zenith flying instruments logo. A brown leather strap secures the watch with a silver pin buckle and tab, fashioned after those on a vintage pilot helmet. Other new noteworthy models include the Defy El Primero Double Tourbillon, El Primero Revival A386, and the DEFY Inventor, which features the new Zenith Oscillator control system.

In a collaboration with artist Marc Ferrero, Hublot brought us the Big Bang One Click watch—a timepiece celebrating the 21st century woman as both a muse and modern heroine. Featuring Ferrero’s renowned work Lipstick on the dial, the watch presents a monochrome look in either red or turquoise, has polished stainless-steel details, and 42 sparkling gems set into its 39mm case. With only 50 pieces available, each features the option of a calf leather strap designed by the artist or a solid colored rubber and alligator strap. Also new from Hublot were pieces like the Big Bang Sang Bleu II, the Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 42mm, and a sleek collaboration with artist Richard Orlinski—the Classic Fusion Orlinski watch.
