The ultimate Grand Tourer, Bentley’s new Continental GT, redefines the concepts of luxury and performance first unveiled in 2003. Since that debut, followed by a second-generation Continental GT in 2011, the best-selling model has become globally renowned as a sophisticated example of technical prowess and design excellence. In September, at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Continental GT was revealed as a powerful statement of engineering achievement and cutting-edge technology, allied with a new, bold sculptural exterior and exquisite interior detailing. Designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Britain at Bentley’s UK headquarters in Crewe, the car seamlessly integrates natural materials with striking technological advancements. The new Grand Tourer is truly the definitive statement of power and refinement.
“Bentley has been at the forefront of luxury Grand Touring for nearly one hundred years. The new, third-generation Continental GT is the pinnacle of our design and engineering achievements and marks the next step in Bentley’s journey,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors.
The third-generation model incorporates new core components, including an enhanced version of the renowned 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W12 TSI engine—now mechanically connected to a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission—that is pushed farther to the back of the body for better weight distribution. The steel and aluminum high-strength structure allows designers to create a more complex and sharply defined exterior. The interior gives drivers and passengers the ultimate offering in modern comfort and luxury with the highest-quality materials—20-way adjustable seats, more than 10 square meters of wood, laminated acoustic glass, and the all-new “diamond in diamond” leather interior embroidery. Complementing the drive experience are features designed to ensure connectivity at all times—a choice of three audio systems, Apple CarPlay, and emergency Private eCall capability. An industry-first, the Bentley Rotating Display consists of a three-sided unit which revolves the veneer to reveal a fully digital, driver-focused instrument panel, as well as three elegant analogue dials.
“We are the world leader in luxury mobility and our products and services define new luxury in the automotive world. The new Continental GT encapsulates our desire to innovate as well as celebrate our heritage and take the Bentley ownership experience to the next, unparalleled level,” said Dürheimer.
