De Beers’s Sustainable “ReSet Collective” with Five Female Designers

De Beers has released a high jewelry capsule collection in collaboration with five U.S.-based female jewelry designers. Entitled the “ReSet Collective,” the project features the work of Zoë Chicco, Julez Bryant, Sara Weinstock, Jennie Kwon, and Jade Trau. Each designer created a one-of-a-kind pendant made using the house’s natural, ethically acquired diamonds, which will be auctioned by Sotheby’s between December 10—17. All proceeds will be split equally between Botswana’s Stepping Stones International and the NAACP Legal Defence Fund in the U.S.

This “ReSet Collective” is the first installation in the jewelry brand’s upcoming series of partnerships surrounding the benefits of sustainably sourced diamonds. For the first collaboration, the five designers traveled to Botswana with De Beers last year, where the house is working in partnership with the locals to source its precious stones, in line with its Building Forever sustainability initiative. Inspired by the experience and the positive outcome the brand’s responsible collaboration has had on the local economy, the designers each made a special piece of jewelry highlighting the country’s wildlife, landscapes, and people.

Showcased with a campaign featuring the model Indira Scott, the resulting five-piece capsule has been created using De Beers’s Botswana-sourced diamonds—like a zebra-reminiscent design by Weinstock, which hangs from a silver chain with diamond details, and Kwon’s elegant lioness, which snoozes on a tree branch surrounded by sparkling stones. The capsule also includes an ornate pair of elephants by Bryant, a magnificent lion head from Chicco, and a construction of rings surrounding a central yellow stone by Trau, which reminded us of the solar system.

“It was a privilege to host Jade, Jennie, Julez, Sara, and Zoë in Botswana, where they witnessed first-hand the role diamonds play in providing critical education, healthcare, infrastructure and social benefit for Botswana’s people,” said Colby Shergalis, Senior Vice President of De Beers Group Brand. “The designers’ enthusiasm to collaborate on these pendants in support of two worthy charities was inspired by their desire to shed a light on the important role diamonds play for the communities where they are found, and to further enhance the opportunities they create.”
