Friday Fête: Dior’s New Boutique, Gucci’s Film Talk, the UNITAS Gala, and More

Eliza Jordan

13 September 2019

For this week’s Friday Fête, Whitewall takes you through some of this week’s events, including celebrations with UNITAS, Gucci, Dior, and more.

On Monday at the IAC building in New York, UNITAS held its annual gala to further its mission of human trafficking awareness and prevention. The organization—founded in 2015 by Lubo Krstajic, with offices in Belgrade, Serbia, and New York—honored Bethann Haridson, Shannon Sedgwick Davis, and David Ocitti. The evening also welcomed performances by Victory Boyd and Wyclef Jean, and a silent and live auction that culminated in $750,000 raised for the organization. That night, UNITAS also unveiled LIGHTS—a prevention program that empowers the youth with education and skills to protect themselves from human trafficking and exploitation.

Tuesday brought a cocktail party hosted by Gucci at its Gucci Wooster Bookstore location, with a conversation between filmmaker Lili Summer and actress Sasha Frolova. The talk was centered around Summer’s new film, Lucan Asks Why, before an intimate screening of the film was presented in the cinema room. That afternoon, special guests like Ruby Aldridge, Kim Gordon, Coco Gordon-Moore, Grace Hartzel, Stella Lucia, Isaac Hindin-Miller, Hayett McCarthy, Dani Miller, and Courtney Trop enjoyed cocktails and conversation, while mingling throughout the space.

Wednesday night, Heron Preston hosted an intimate cocktail event, in celebration of his collaboration with of Very Important Puppies (V.I.P.). Located on the sixth floor of The Webster, the event welcomed guests (and their fluffy friends) to cocktails by Owney’s Rum and treats by Just Food for Dogs. While Preston DJed on the terrace, special attendees mingled before leaving with doggy bags of V.I.P. accessories.

On Thursday in Los Angeles, Champagne Bollinger gathered special attendees at the Beverly Hills Hotel for Asprey London’s Afternoon Tea and Soirée. In the hotel’s private garden, guests gathered in support of Zoe Winkler’s This is About Humanity—a movement to help those affected at the border—over glasses of champagne and shopping Asprey’s most coveted styles. Those in attendance—like Kelly Lynch, Carlota Espinosa, Anjelica Huston, Henry Winkler, Eiza González, Louise Roe, Elaine Irwin Mellencamp, Anastasia Soare, and Diana Madison—shopped and sipped, with proceeds benefitting This is About Humanity.

And last night at Hudson Yards, Dior opened its latest boutique with a soirée fit for the New York Fashion Week crowd. The boutique features an open layout with a clean aesthetic, reflecting the elegant DNA of Dior. Special guests stopped by to check out the latest men’s women’s collections and accessories, and to enjoy glasses of Moët & Chandon champagne and conversation. In the center of the boutique stands “Petals”—a central lounge room design that pays tribute to Mr. Dior’s love of florals—and inside the fitting rooms are Toile de Jouy print walls. The festive night was also heightened by music by DJ Vashtie.
