Whitewaller Aspen 2018 is taking you to Colorado for the Aspen Art Museum‘s annual ArtCrush event, highlighting where to go to eat and drink at, see art, and relax. Below, we’re sharing a list of top places to see art, eat, drink, and relax at by master sommelier and wine director of The Little Nell, Carlton McCoy.
WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
I’ve seen the dining seen grow tremendously in my last 8 years. Here are a few of my favorites: element 47 offers great ingredient driven cuisine with mainly local produce grown on a farm 20 miles away. The bar scene is always popping, serving great craft cocktails. Meat and Cheese is my favorite casual go to. This is a market/restaurant where you can have an amazing dinner a stock up on local cheese as well! Creperie du Village is one of the most charming restaurants in town. They specialize in rustic French bistro fair with a fun mainly French wine list.
WHERE TO SEE ART
Aspen has a some of the greatest art collectors in the world. We have become a great mountain mecca for art forms of all sorts. The Omnibus Gallery has the largest collection of original printed lithograhs in the world. From Lautrec, to Cassandre, to Loupot to Mucha, they’ve got it all!! Paula Crown has just installed her Solotogether solo cup at the base of Aspen mountain, this installation is meant to bring awareness to single use plastics and their impact on our environment longterm. element 47 is not just a restaurant, but a living art collection. During dinner you will be surrounded by the likes of Cameron Martin, Jose Lerma, and Rafael Vega!
WHERE TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX
Other than art and dining, here are some recommendations for things to do: Remède Spa, Smuggler hike, Aspen Mountain hike and Sundeck lunch, Hunter Creek hike, Arjuna Hot Yoga, yoga and meditation on Aspen Mountain, and The Little Nell Adventure Center: sunset jeep tour, fly fishing, stargazing.
