On June 15, Art Basel opens with 291 of the world’s leading galleries showing over 4,000 artists. There, attendees will find copies of Whitewaller Basel—out to help guide guests through the busy art fair and the surrounding city life in Basel, Berlin, and Zurich. Below, we’re sharing tips on where to go for dinner, drinks, and art inspiration from the chief concierge at Les Trois Rois, Cristina Bally.
WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
[Chez] Donati for over 50 years of fine Italian cuisine; Gift Hüttli for the true taste of Basel; Schällenursli for the atmosphere of a farm in the middle of town; Consum for salami, cheese, and more than 100 wines; and Bar Les Trois Rois with its drinks subtly composed by Chef de Bar Thomas Huhn.
WHERE TO SEE ART
The Kunstmuseum Basel’s “¡Hola Prado!” Fondation Beyeler and the surrounding garden is worth a stroll. The Vitra Design Museum. And Fleurs des Rois is another kind of art to see for yourself.
WHERE TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX
As soon as the days get warmer, the shore of the Rhine invites everybody to spend some time. At the height of the Kaserne you will find the buvettes, or toward the port you will find the Landestelle—easygoing places to get some food and drinks. Lovely to sit and watch people.
Be sure to pick up your copy of Whitewaller Basel, out during the fair.
