WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
Restaurant Matisse is one of my latest discoveries, with all sorts of herbs as the pinnacle of each dish. For a quick vegetarian or vegan meal, I like to go to Tibits. For an after-work glass of wine or local beer, I recommend Volkshaus (especially their beer garden in the summer). Consum Basel is one of my favorite wine bars, located in the beautiful old town.
WHERE TO SEE ART
The Kunstmuseum and Fondation Beyeler are a must. For design lovers, I highly recommend the Vitra Museum, which is just outside of Basel.
WHERE TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX
I’m a resident of Zürich, so to relax I would recommend going just there (under an hour train ride from Basel). The Zürich lake in the heart of the city, among snow-capped mountains, is especially fun in the summer—you can rent small boats or go swimming. For a dinner with a breathtaking view, I recommend the Dolder Grand.
GIANNI JETZER
WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
There is a Bakery Jetzer in Basel (I am not related to with the owner) that has an amazing brunch on Sunday.
WHERE TO SEE ART
The work of Sam Gilliam, a great artist from Washington, D.C., at the Kunstmuseum.
WHERE TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX
Waterskiing on the Rhine is ecologically a guilty pleasure. Regenerate afterward with drinks at Renée.
